MEET THE CONCERT & CABARET ARTISTS

MARC IRWIN - Resident Music Director

Mr. Irwin is the Resident Music Director and Composer at ASC. He is a pianist, composer, arranger, and recording artist, who uses his diverse talents within the fields of musical theater, jazz, classical, contemporary concert, and world musics. Marc Irwin is a native New Yorker  with much experience playing keyboards in the Broadway pit orchestras. Broadway credits include Cats, City of Angels, Crazy for You, Jerome Robbins' Broadway, The Mystery of Edwin Drood, Romance, Romance, and Sunday in the Park with George. He has worked as assistant musical director, assistant conductor, and pianist in Kennedy Center's Sondheim Celebration on Merrily We Roll Along, and on the musical theater classics Bells are Ringing, Purlie, and Where's Charlie? Mr. Irwin played in the pit for Kennedy Center productions of Beauty and the Beast, By Jeeves, Damn Yankees, Dreamgirls, Kiss Me, Kate and Showboat. He has been the keyboard player for the national tours of Dreamgirls, In the Heights, and The Wiz including performances at Baltimore's Hippodrome and Lyric theaters. He was assistant conductor for the international company of A Chorus Line, and performed throughout America, Europe, Japan, and Zimbabwe as sound designer and keyboardist for Harry Belafonte. Marc Irwin is a pianist and frequent musical director for the renowned political-satire group Capitol Steps since 1999.
 
Dr. Irwin holds a DMA in Composition from Peabody Institute of The Johns Hopkins University. Recent compositions include incidental music for Yasmina Reza's Art, and David Kramer's The Normal Heart, for Vagabond Players in Fells Point, and the score for Freefall Frosbite presented in NYC's Fringe Festival.  A recital of Mr Irwin's contemporary concert music was recently presented at Baltimore's An die Musik. He has released six jazz albums including one solo piano recording. His albums include collaborations with the ensembles Crossings, Handmade Music, and Urban Energy.  Selections from Marc Irwin's recent recording with his New York-based quintet, MIQ, are available on his website. Marc has written over thirty arrangements for the Peabody Children's Chorus that continue to be performed across the US and in Europe. Marc Irwin is currently producer, musical director, and pianist in cabarets and on albums for New York musical theatre singers, while upkeeping his home recording and teaching studios.  He is excited about the new affiliation with the ASC!

MATT ACQUARD - Vocalist

Matt Acquard was seen previously as Claudio in MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING, Sketch/Ensemble in HAIRSPRAY (Best Musical- BroadwayWorld St. Petersburg/Tampa), Laurence/Agent Sharp in TARTUFFE, and Red in AMERICA: A MOSAIC (American Stage), Oberon in A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM (Finalist for the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship- Region 2), Judge Turpin in SWEENEY TODD, and Sir Toby Belch in TWELFTH NIGHT. Education: BFA in Acting from Towson University, and the American Stage Acting/Apprentice Program.

SALLY BOYETT - Vocalist

Sally Boyett has performed in professional theatres from regional to Disney, off-off-Broadway, European Tours, Broadway National Tours and Lincoln Center in New York.  Highlights include originating the role of “Patsy” in Crazy For You with Susan Stroman (First National Tour, First International & First European Tours), 42nd Street (First International Tour and Houston's TUTS with Tammy Grimes and LeRoy Reems), La Cage Aux Folles, My One and Only, A Chorus Line, Sugar, and many others.

IAN CHARLES - Vocalist

Ian Charles was seen mostly recently in ASC’s productions of A Christmas Carol, Much Ado About Nothing, Alice and the Book of Wonderland, and The Tempest. He has performed stateside for regional theatres such as Chesapeake Shakespeare Company, the American Shakespeare Center, Heritage Theatre Festival, Live Arts Theatre, ShenanArts Theatre, and Ball State University Opera; as well as the international Festival of the Aegean in Syros, Greece.

CHRISTINE ASERO - Vocalist

Christine Asero has performed at The Olney Theatre, The Smithsonian, the Capital Fringe Fest, in New York, aboard a Cruise liner, in Europe with Opera NY, and in various regional productions of Man of La Mancha, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Into the Woods, Grease, and many others.  In 2005 Christine, and Jazz pianist, Jonathan Segal, produced a CD of original country songs entitled Unexpected Journey-The Songs of Segal and Asero.



SHAREN CAMILLE - Vocalist

Sharen Camille has performed on stages from New York to National and International Tours.  Highlights include Maria in West Side Story (National Tour overseen by Jerome Robbins, International Tour), The Fantasticks (New York), Show Boat, The Music Man, A Christmas Carol, The Sound of Music, Carousel, George M, and Godspell.  Equally at home with classical repertoire, Sharen has performed with opera companies and chorales around the country.  Sharen has released a CD, Angels We Have Heard On High, a wonderful collection of Christmas classics which beautifully showcases the voice that The Connecticut Post called “pure, powerful and meltingly tender”. 

JOE ROSSI - Vocalist

Joe Rossi's Regional and National Tour credits inlude Anslemo-Man of LaMancha; Jamie-My Fair Lady; A-Rab & Chino-West Side Story; Harry-Time of Your Life; Daddy Brubeck-Sweet Charity. Joe has performed his one-man show in various cities including New York City, Mountain View, MO; Washington, D.C.; and his hometown. Joe was guest soloist for the National Award for Arts Writing  and was honored to sing the National Anthem for an event in honor of the Wounded Warriors Project.
